                                                     Ekan ca jeyya m " attanam  

                                                                    sa ve sangama juttamo


   4.                                                  Yo ca gatha satam bhase
                                        
                                                                   anattha pada samhita 

                                                      Ekam gatha padam seyyo 

                                                                    yam sutva upa sammati

 BETTER THAN A HUNDRED USELESS IS ONE WORD OF DHAMMA
SELF CONQUEST IS THE BEST OF ALL CONQUESTS  

  Meaning - Should one recite an hundred verses , comprising useless words , better is one single word of the Dhamma , by hearing which one is pacified.

 Meaning -though one should conquer a million men in battle field , yet he , indeed , is the noblest victor who has conquered himself.




   5.                                                  Atta have jitam Seyyo
                                        
                                                                   ya ca yam itara paja

                                                       Atta dantassa posassa

                                                                  niccam sanna ta carino  


   6. .                                              N" va devo na gandhabbo
                                                        
                                                                   Na Maro saha brahmuna 

                                                      Jitam apa jitam kayira

                                                                  tatha rupassa jantuno

                                                                           5, 6 

BE RATHER A VICTOR OF YOUR SELF , THAN AVICTOR OF OTHERS ,
NONE CAN TURN INTO A DEFEAT A SELF VICTORY    

  Meaning -Self conquest is far greater than the conquest of all other folk ; neither a god nor
                     a gandhabba , nor Mara with Brahma , can win back the victory of such a person 
                     who is self - subdued and ever lives in restraint.
